Larissa Ann started with a leap of faith.

Today, her work encourages us to slow down, savor the small wonders around us, and reconnect with the moments that make life so special. With a deep-rooted love of nature and a special connection to horses, her art captures the beauty of everyday moments, particularly those shared with animals.

While Larissa had been creating art for family and friends for years, her work did not enter the public eye until 2020 when she was asked to paint a life-size horse statue for a local non-profit. Her piece, “Sergeant Reckless”, drew on her experiences serving in the U.S. Army and paid homage to the strong military community near Southern Pines, specifically to Gold Star families who lost loved ones during their service.

Knowing that few artists are afforded the opportunity to undertake such significant projects, the importance of creating something of beauty and impact weighed on Larissa’s heart. She pushed through self-doubt and fear to create something worthy of her community, raising awareness of critical issues facing military and veteran communities along with funding for the non-profit Carolina Horse Park.

In the years since “Sergeant Reckless”, Larissa’s reputation has expanded well into the equestrian community. She has been asked to paint portraits of top-level horses to honor them as they enter retirement, as well as saddles and bespoke glasses to celebrate America’s top athletes. Her client list includes the United States Equestrian Team, Stübben North America, Practical Horseman, and Cosequin.

Larissa has created projects of all shapes and sizes, from large privately commissioned canvases to delicately painted wine bottles and champagne glasses. Despite the wide variety of projects, her work is united by its inspiration: the elegance of horses and the serene beauty of the natural world.

These timeless subjects have not only been muses, but sources of solace and influence throughout the artist’s life. Larissa’s experiences, in particular her military service, have taken her all over the world. Her travels both fueled her passion for discovery and developed a deep appreciation of home.

Larissa’s commitment to her community shines through her work: her art has raised over $30,000 for local organizations since 2020. Her ongoing charitable efforts are the artist’s way of “paying it forward” after receiving opportunities to make a positive impact in ways she never expected.

Larissa believes in the power of creativity and courage. Currently, she is working on a collection that celebrates the spirit of those who “take the leap” and chase their dreams.

Her hope is that her story and artwork inspire others to pursue their passions and venture into the exciting unknowns that accompany growth, change, and opportunity.
