Artist’s Note

This painting depicts a fond memory, a small herd of horses surrounded by wildflower-fringed meadows. I grew up calling horses in from such a field, watching their ears prick forward before they began making their way towards the barn. Horse lovers know the quiet contentedness that comes from well-cared for animals. There is a simple pleasure in watching horses making their way towards the people who love them, and this scene is a quiet celebration of that feeling.
