Take the Leap

Art, Courage, and Creating Beyond the Comfort Zone

I've always believed that the moments when we dare to step into the unknown can be the most transformative. That belief shaped my journey from military service to my current role in an equestrian company and my ever-evolving art practice. It also inspired my collaboration with R. Riveter last fall for the Take the Leap collection.

This collaboration began thanks to a thoughtful connection made by a designer friend who introduced me to the manager of R. Riveter's Southern Pines store. As we spoke about my experiences, my artwork, and my journey transitioning from military service to a more creative life, the idea of a collection that celebrated bold dreams and taking leaps of faith took shape.

The Story Behind the Winged Horse

Larissa Ann: the winged horse logo.

When R. Riveter invited me to share my story through this collection, it felt natural to use my winged horse logo—a symbol that has come to represent my journey as an artist and the heart of my brand.

Horses have always been my muse—their strength, their grace, and the way they live fully in the present moment. As a child, riding bareback across hayfields felt like I’d grown wings, and that feeling of freedom has stayed with me through all of life’s twists and turns.

"Taking the leap" has been a guiding theme throughout my life—from enlisting in the U.S. Army to deployments overseas, to my transition into civilian life with more space for horses, art, and family. My work on projects like Sergeant Reckless —a patriotic painted horse that started a series of fundraisers with over $40,000 donated to nonprofits—stands as a powerful reminder of the ways art can connect, heal, and inspire.

A Collection for Bold Dreamers

I’ve admired R. Riveter's mission to empower military spouses through meaningful work for years. When the opportunity arose to share my story with their community, it felt like a natural fit. The Take the Leap collection reflects my belief that life's most meaningful moments often come from daring to step into the unknown.

Each piece in the collection features my winged horse logo or one of my equestrian line drawings—symbols of strength, hope, and the courage to leap into the unknown. It's a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful paths are the ones we step onto without seeing the whole way forward.

Dare to Dream, Take the Leap

If there's one thing I hope my story and artwork can encourage, it’s this: Dream big. Take the leap. You never know where your boldest steps might lead.

If you’re curious to learn more or want to carry a reminder of this message with you, explore the Take the Leap collection at R. Riveter. It’s more than just a bag or a hat—it’s a tribute to bold dreamers, and a celebration of those daring to chase the extraordinary.
